BSNL pays Rs. 200 cr Interim dividend to Govt

 

New Delhi, December 20, 2004 

 

Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited today presented Rs. 200 cr interim dividend to Government of India. CMD, BSNL A. K. Sinha presented cheque to Minister of Communications & Information Technology, Dayanidhi Maran.

 

Addressing the media today, Mr. Sinha announced that, during the year 2003-2004 the company earned a net profit of Rs. 5976 cr., which was 4 times more than the previous financial year. The company achieved a 12 % increase in the net worth which stood at Rs. 63018 as on 31st March, 2004. 

 

BSNL's total investment in capital addition during this financial year was around Rs. 45000 cr, which was highest by any PSU, in a short period of time. The company's achieved on EPS Rs. 11.95. The book value of the share has gone up to Rs. 110, registering  14 % increase.

 

The company plan to add 15 mn cellular connections.
