Message from Kazakhstan's Ambassador on Independence Day

It’s my great pleasure to address the visitors of our web-page on the occasion of the 13th independence day of Kazakhstan.

Kazakhstan today is a rapidly developing young country with a vibrant society and dynamic economy. It is home for more than 100 representatives of nationalities of 46 denominations living in a peace and harmony with each other. it is a country of annual economic growth of 10% GDP for the last four years with a sound financial structure. Recent discovery of huge oil deposit in the Caspian Sea offshore (in fact the largest oil find in the last 30 years) adds to raising prospective of Kazakhstan as one of top five world oil producers with hydrocarbon reserves constituting about 1.5% of the world resources.

We understand that our economic prosperity can only be achieved through peace and stability in the region. Therefore, Kazakhstan has launched the Conference on Interaction and Confidence-Building Measures in Asia (CICA) at the initiative of the President of Kazakhstan, Nursultan Nazarbayev, which was put forward at the UN General Assembly in 1992. Today the Conference unites 17 member-states and deals with the topical issues of peace and security in the Asian continent The Second initiative is the Congress of World Traditional Religions, the main goal of which is to foster tolerance, mutual understanding and harmony among different cultures and religions and to prevent what has been referred recently as a “class of civilizations”. I am glad to say that India takes an active part in this process and effectively contributes to this noble cause.

Kazakhstan has always attached great importance to the development of bilateral relations with India, which plays a key role in regional processes in South Asia and the world. Our close cultural, spiritual and trade-economic ties date back to the ancient “Great Silk Road” that connected our nations for centuries. I believe that this historical link needs to be further cherished and expanded and should guide us into the strong mutual beneficial cooperation in the years to come.

Availing from this opportunity I would like to thank you for visiting our web-site and I hope it will enable our dear visitors to find the required information about Kazakhstan, its history, culture and traditions.
