RBI, 926 bank branches to accept advance income tax
New Delhi, August 18, 2009
The Reserve Bank said on Monday that 926 computerized
branches of public sector and private sector banks would
accept advance income tax in Mumbai and Navi Mumbai.
Of these, 862 branches belong to public sector banks, a press
release issued here said.
35 HDFC Bank, 10 ICICI Bank and 19 Axis Bank branches would
also accept advance income tax, the release said.
"Long queues and inconveniences can be avoided at the Reserve
Bank of India counters if the assesses in Mumbai and Navi
Mumbai utilise the services being made available at varous
designated branches of banks and deposit their income tax dues
well in advance of the last date," the release said.
