BHEL bags first turnkey contract for 400 kV Grid Substation in

Heavy Electricals Limited (BHEL) has once again demonstrated its competitive
edge by bagging its first turnkey contract for a 400 kV grid substation in Valued at over Rs. 65 Crore, the order has been placed on BHEL by Power Grid Corporation of India (PowerGrid) for setting up a 400/220 kV grid substation at Muzzafarpur and extension of 220 kV substation of Bihar State Electricity Board (BSEB), also located at Muzzafarpur. The package is associated with the East-North Interconnector II project. Aimed
at improving power supply in the state of BHEL’s
scope of work in the contract envisages design, engineering, manufacture,
testing, supply, erection and commissioning of Auto Transformers (2x315 MVA),
Current and Capacitive Voltage Transformers, Shunt Reactors (5x63 MVAr), Circuit
Breakers, Disc Insulators and other associated auxiliaries, in addition to
complete civil works. The equipment will be manufactured and supplied by
BHEL’s plants at BHEL has fully established its capability to undertake substation projects upto 400 kV for utilities and core sector industries. The company has set up substations for a wide range of applications like industrial receiving substations, switchyards of power plants, conversion substations for the industry, AC/DC switchyards for HVDC stations etc. For
PowerGrid, BHEL has earlier set up 400 kV substations at Gazuwaka, Kanpur, In
