New Delhi, April 30: Sushilkumar Shinde, Union Minister of Power laid the foundation stone of 765/400 kV Angul Substation of POWERGRID at Angul District in Odisha. The occasion was also graced by Atanu Sabyasachi Nayak, Minister of State for Energy (Independent), Odisha, Tathagat Satpathy, Member of Parliament and other dignitaries.
The 765/400 kV pooling station at Angul is being implemented by POWERGRID as a part of a ‘High Capacity Power Transmission Corridor’ (HCPTC) for evacuation of power from the number of IPPs coming up in Odisha. The Angul pooling station shall be one of the first 765/400 kV Sub-stations for the State of Odisha.
The power from various IPPs will be pooled at this station and dispersed to various load centres of Odisha /Eastern Region as well as to Western and Northern Regions for which high capacity 765Kv AC corridor has been planned.
This station will strengthen the transmission system of the state of Odisha & Eastern Region (ER) for supply of power with reliability & security and provide strong connectivity of ER with other regions.
