New Delhi, July 19 : The ‘Logo’ and ‘Website’ of the 9th World Hindi Conference were launched by Minister of State for External Affairs Preneet Kaur. The conference will be organized from 22-24 September, 2012 in Johannesburg, South Africa. The theme of the conference is ‘Bhasha Ki Asmita Aur Hindi Ka Vaishwik Sandarbh’ .


Speaking about the relevance of World Hindi Conferences, Satyavrat Chaturvedi, Member of Parliament and Member of the Steering Committee of the 9th World Hindi Conference said that culture and language of a country define its identity. India, too, is recognized all over the world for its composite culture and language.

Speaking on the occasion Minister of State for External Affairs Preneet Kaur said that while the World Hindi Conferences are witnessing increasing participation by people, an effort is being made to attract and involve the youth and the students in large number to these conferences.

During the interaction with the media the Minister said that organizing World Hindi Conferences is a matter of pride for us because it is the official language of our country. She added that so far the World Hindi Conferences have been held in the countries with a large Indian diaspora for whom such conferences have a special significance.

Earlier the ‘Logo’ and the ‘Website’ www.vishwahindisammelan.gov.in of the conference were launched by the Minister. The website is both in Hindi and English. It contains all the relevant details about the conference such as themes and schedule of academic sessions, procedure for registration both for participants from India and abroad, details about accommodation, transport, visa etc. The archive section of the website contains details about the previous eight World Hindi Conferences.

The ‘Logo’ of the Conference was selected following a global competition held by the Ministry of External Affairs. The winning entry was designed by Jog Shubhanand Gopal of J.J. School of Arts, Mumbai. Jog was presented the cash prize by the Minister.

The dignitaries present on the occasion included Members of Parliament, Members of the Steering Committee and sub-Committees of the 9th World Hindi Conference, distinguished Hindi scholars, writers, journalists and senior officials.
