Tokyo, May 24 An earthquake measuring 6.0 on the Richter scale jolted Hokkaido island of Japan Wednesday, the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) said.

The temblor occurred at 3.02 p.m. GMT. It had its epicentre, with a depth of 71.40 km, initially determined to be at 41.38 degrees north latitude and 142.08 degrees east longitude, Xinhua reported.
